How can I protect my skin from melanoma?

How can I protect my skin from melanoma, you may ask …. we have the answer!

Protecting your skin from harmful UV radiation is one of the most important steps you can take to prevent melanoma. Here are some tips to help protect your skin:

  1. Wear protective clothing: When you are outside, wear clothing that covers as much of your skin as possible, such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, and wide-brimmed hats. That’s why we provide so much more than swimwear, with long sleeves and long legs amongst our range of rashie options. Here are our friends from Healthy Inspirations Prospect wearing our range (and having so much fun too). They're wearing women's rashie tops, one rashie top with long sleeves (Crossover Top) and a short sleeved women's rashie top (Knot Top).
  2. Use sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 (we typically see 50+) to all exposed skin, including your face, neck, and ears. Reapply every two hours, or more frequently if you are swimming or sweating.
  3. Seek shade: Stay in the shade during peak sun hours (check your weather app for high UV times) when the sun's rays are the strongest.
  4. Wear sunglasses: Wear sunglasses that block at least 99% of UVA and UVB radiation to protect your eyes and the skin around them.
  5. Regularly check your skin: Check your skin regularly for any new or changing moles or other skin lesions. If you notice anything unusual, see a dermatologist or healthcare provider as soon as possible.

By following these steps, you can help protect your skin from harmful UV radiation and reduce your risk of developing melanoma.
